Trade Union of Adult Educators – AKOL

AKOL is trade union of representing actors in all sectors of adult education in Finland. The members of the Union work in adult education centers, vocational colleges, folk high schools and private educational institutions. AKOL has over 1800 members who represent various staff groups within the field of adult education. Largest group are those working as part time and full time vocational teachers or subject teachers, and counselors. AKOL membership is also open personnel in management position and development projects.

AKOL provide its members a range of services including support, advice on collective agreements, legal representation, training programs and professional seminars and conference.

AKOL is member association of the Trade Union of Education in Finland (OAJ). OAJ represents teachers at various school levels and institutes of learning, ranging from day-care teacher to lectures in universities and vocational school teachers. Today the membership is 116 500 (1.1.2021).
